First day of 'garden leave'

The Germans call it "Freistellung", but the English term originated in the British civil service and basically means I am employed and receiving full pay but not working. In my case, it was 100% voluntary and allowing me to find a new path in life.
After a few days of regular vacation I am now officially on garden leave and finding a new path forward (this was a tough idea to put into words). I am not sure where it will take me, but I am going to aim for something other than a big company. Will it be an NGO? Will I join a public entity or government organization or a small agency or will I go freelance? Time will tell, so keep watching.
